Lukaku Wanted To Join Chelsea Before Inter Move, Says Agent

Football agent Federico Pastorello has revealed his client Romelu Lukaku wanted to return to Chelsea before he joined Inter Milan.

The Belgium superstar opted to join the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2019 from Manchester United after his stint at Old Trafford was fairly successful.

Lukaku went on to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Europe at the San Siro. He scored 64 goals in 95 appearances with the Nerazzurri and helped the club to win their first Scudetto in eleven years.

The 28-year-old returned to the Premier League to play for Chelsea before the closure of the summer transfer window, and Inter Milan chairman Giuseppe Marotta accused Lukaku of signing for the West Londoners because of money.

Pastorello has defended Lukaku’s move to West London, insisting his client always had the Blues in mind.

“The market can offer you certain opportunities. I consider them like trains passing and when the right train stops at the right place, you need to step in and leave,” Pastorello told Sky Sports UK.

“During his last season at Man United he always had Chelsea in his head. Real Madrid as well I have to admit. That is another dream of his in terms of imagining his career, but Chelsea was always 100 per cent his target.

“They were the love of his childhood so there was always this desire to come back. It was a question of pride. He had that in his head and his heart.”
