King scored his first Premier League goals since July 2020 to earn Claudio Ranieri his maiden win as manager of the Hornets.
The Norwegian international was the star of the show scoring once in the first half and adding two more in the second period as Watford completed a remarkable turnaround against Rafael Benitez’s men.
King joined Everton from Bournemouth in the second half of the 2020/2021 season but all his eleven appearances for the club came as a substitute, totaling 138 minutes and he failed to score a single goal.
The 29-year-old joined Watford at the start of the current season but saved his first goals for the club against his former side, much to his delight.
He told Sky Sports: "I didn't get given a chance [at Everton], but I did wake up today and had a feeling. I was here but I didn't feel like I got given a chance.
"That's football - but I feel like every time someone doubts you, or doesn't believe in you, you want to prove a point. I felt I had a point to prove. I know it's not personal, but I woke up and said to myself I have to be on my A game today. I didn't expect a hat-trick, but I'll take it!"
Watford climbed to 14th position with their third win of the season and host Southampton in their next Premier League game.
