The 25-year-old was the recipient of a telling-off from Paul Pogba during the recent Nations League final victory over Spain.
Pavard started his career in France with Lille but has been playing in Germany since 2016 for VFB Stuttgart and then Bayern Munich.
A member of France’s 2018 World winning squad in Russia where he scored the goal of the tournament against Argentina in the round of 16, Pavard feels he is underappreciated in his home country.
"I don't let the criticism from France get to me, because I left France at a young age," Pavard explained to Canal+.
"I rarely played in Ligue 1, so the French public hardly know me. They probably only noticed me and started taking an interest in me after my goal at the World Cup [in 2018 against Argentina]," added the defender, who left LOSC Lille for VfB Stuttgart in 2016 before moving on to Bayern in 2019.
"On paper, Pavard is probably not as sexy as [Achraf]Hakimi and [Trent] Alexander-Arnold, but I think I'm more complete defensively. I'd like to be more respected in France, but I don't force people to watch the Bundesliga.
"The real observers, who watch football on a regular basis, know exactly what I've done and what I'm still doing."
Pavard won the Champions League with Bayern Munich in the 2019/2020 season.
