Mbappe has eight goals and four assists from just nine appearances for PSG across all competitions this season.
The 20-year-old came fourth in last year’s Ballon d’Or award and has been added to the 30-man shortlist for this year’s edition.
Depay plays in Ligue 1 with Mbappe, and he believes it will be difficult to usurp the Frenchman.
“It will be hard to dethrone Mbappe as the best striker.” Depay told Canal+
“He is extraordinary. I think he’s an inspiration for all the attackers and a nightmare for the defenders, as an attacker, we love to see what he does.”
The 25-year-old feels Ligue 1 is underrated and the players do not get enough credit and appreciation.
“I think Ligue 1 is underestimated, people do not know how high the level is.”
“Some teams produce a very physical game, but also very fast, there are also many good players who are leaving this championship.”

Depay disclosed how he nearly joined PSG before he moved to Manchester United in 2015, but his move to Old Trafford did not go as planned.
