Solskjaer Hoping To Build On Villarreal Win

Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he hopes his side build on their midweek victory over Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League when they face Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The Red Devils will be entertaining the Toffees at Old Trafford and Solskjaer wants nothing but a win going into the international break.

Manchester United had to leave it late against Villarreal on Wednesday thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s winner.

Alex Telles had canceled Paco Alcacer’s goal and the game was heading for a stalemate before the Portugal icon popped up to give Manchester United a crucial win in their group.

Speaking to the media ahead of Manchester United’s game against Rafael Benitez’s men, Solskjaer is expecting his side to do all they can to secure another win.

"The boost and energy you get in the group after a win like this has to be built on," he said.

"It's a very very quick turnaround, Wednesday night and Saturday morning, but the players are not going to get caught out by it and we need to start as we finished on Wednesday night.

The game was initially scheduled to take place in the evening but was moved to a lunchtime kick-off and Solskjaer seems not happy with the decision. "We had no explanation, but it's TV of course,” he added.

"There's no common sense at all. We had the same scenario last season when we were in Turkey and came back and played (on Saturday lunchtime).

"Us and Chelsea both played on Wednesday and could have easily played on Sunday while City-Liverpool could have been on Saturday.

"Common sense might not be so common."
