Kovac Calm Over His Bayern Munich Future

Under-fire Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has insisted that he is relaxed about his future at the Allianz Arena.

The Bundesliga champions have suffered a defeat and a draw against Hoffenheim and Augsburg respectively in their last two league games.

Kovac guided the Bavarian giants to a seventh consecutive Bundesliga title and a DFB Pokal last season, but a lukewarm start to the new campaign has piled pressure on the Croatian tactician.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge accused Kovac’s men of playing "too recklessly" after the Bavarians’ stalemate against Augsburg last weekend.

The 48-year-old says his side must improve in order to remain competitive this season but he quickly dismissed the recent talks about the end of his Bayern Munich tenure.

"When he spoke about carelessness, everyone knows what he meant," Kovac said about Rummenigge’s comment.

"Everyone expects wins - and beautiful football. We expect that too. But you cannot always play nice football. First and foremost, you have to be successful.

"We're struggling defensively at the moment. We're making too many individual mistakes. We have to win our duels and minimize the opponents' chances, then we'll win our games quieter than on Tuesday.

"I can tell you, I'm in contact with my bosses, this storm is being blown in from outside, so I'm quite relaxed. The experience over the past year has been very helpful to me."

Bayern Munich have not won a Bundesliga match since 3-2 win against Paderbon in September, and will hope to turn things around when they face newly-promoted side Union Berlin on Saturday.
