Barcelona are inconsistent in results this season and De Jong, is of the view that sacking Koeman as the head coach isn't the antidote to the club's crisis.
“I don’t think changing the coach is the solution,” the 24-year-old said.
“I can’t talk about Koeman, it’s not my place.
“We have to keep fighting, stay together and overcome this situation. We can only escape this with hard work and being united as a team.”
Koeman, who is at the centre of a storm at Barcelona insisted after the 3-0 loss to Benfica that his future is out of his control, despite stressing he has the support of the players.
“I can only give you my opinion of my work at the club — I feel backed by my players and their attitude,” he said.
“The rest, the club, I’m not sure. I can’t say any more, because I don’t know what the club thinks in that sense. It’s not in my hands.”
The Catalan club suffered another Champions League defeat to Portuguese giants Benfica at the Estadio de Luiz, same result when they lost to Bayern Munich in their first game at Camp Nou.
The defeat means five-time winners Barcelona have now made their worst-ever start to a Champions League campaign as they occupy last position in Group E.
