Agbonlahor says Manchester United should take a leaf out of Chelsea’s booklet and sack their current head coach just like how the Blues did with Frank Lampard.
Hopes are currently high at Old Trafford due to the summer arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, but it seems things have not changed that much on the pitch.
The Red Devils have not yet won any trophy since 2017 and have come close to doing so in many occasions.
Many have opined that their summer acquisitions will help the club win trophies this season but defeats against Young Boys, West Ham United and Aston Villa across all competitions just less than two months into the new season have raised eyebrows as many are questioning Solskjaer’s tactics.
United lost to the Villans at Old Trafford on Saturday and Agbonlahor believes the Norwegian coach was at fault.
“I just don’t think Ole’s the man. If that was [Antonio] Conte, he’d be like okay Ronaldo is on the penalty, you haven’t got a choice. If you don’t like it Fernandes come and sit with me, Ole doesn’t have that pull,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“If I was Manchester United now, Chelsea did it with Lampard, got rid of a club legend and brought in Tuchel and look what happened. Manchester United need to now take Ole out of it, give him a job on the board, bring in Conte and he will get the best out of these players.
“Even these decisions during the games, [Harry] Maguire was limping for 10 minutes before he brought him off.
“You need a goal in the last 10 minutes and you bring on [Edinson] Cavani who hasn’t played any minutes this season, you’ve got Lingard there who scored a late winner against West Ham, you’ve got Sancho which you’ve brought for £70m sitting on the bench.
“I just think some of his decision have been miles off it, I think United need to bit the bullet and get rid of him, bring in Conte who’s out there, [Zinedine] Zidane is out there in order to get better out of these players.”
