Lanzini Eyes River Plate Return

Lanzini Eyes River Plate Return

West Ham United forward Manuel Lanzini is planning a return to his homeland club River Plate after life in Europe.

Lanzini has had a successful stint with the Hammers since his arrival and is in his fifth season with the club.

Being an influential figure in the squad, the Argentine player has insisted he could have his post-European career planned out.

“I would go back to River obviously; I would love to. I believe that at the time it will happen, when the two parties agree, it will give,” Lanzini said.

“Let the boys who are now enjoying themselves, who are going through a difficult moment, with Gallardo, who is a barbarian coach. The truth is that River today is giving us satisfaction all the time.”

Lanzini shattered Manchester United's dream of advancing to the next stage of the EFL Cup when he scored the only goal of the game at Old Trafford.

Having began his career with River Plate, Lanzini joined Al-Jazira for a reported €7.5 million from Fluminese in 2014.

The 28-year-old moved to West Ham United on an initial loan deal before being signed permanently in 2016.

Lanzini, whose current contract with the London-based club will expire in 2023 seems to be considering his next move if he doesn’t extend his stay.

West Ham United have started well this season in the Premier League, recording 3 wins, 2 draws and one defeat as they occupy the seventh position with 11 points after six games.
