Marchisio believes his former club are now in the rebuilding phase and it will take time for them to bounce back.
AC Milan currently sit top of the Serie A table, together with AS Roma and Napoli, with nine points from their opening three games, having beaten the likes of Cagliari, Sampdoria and Lazio.
Juventus on the other hand sit 16th on the league log and are yet to win a game this season, having lost two and drawn one.
The Rossoneri returned to the Champions League for the first time in over seven years and Marchisio has lauded head coach Stefano Pioli and the board for running AC Milan very well.
“Milan are stronger right now, Maldini, Massara and Pioli have done an excellent job to build a team that had been struggling over the last few years,” the former midfielder said.
“They have returned in the competition that represents them better. Liverpool are a tough opponent, but they can get some satisfaction this season,” he added.
“Juventus on the other hand are in a reconstruction phase, but they must prove they are on the same level of the team that opened the winning cycle,” Marchisio said.
“When building the foundation for a long-term project, it is normal to face difficult moments, I would like Juventus to be given time and trust.
“I don’t see any personality or identity issues, you just have to be patient. A team like Juve must always aim to win. They need cohesion and conviction. I am confident,” the 35-year-old continued.
