Napoli In Ideal Form To Face Juventus, Says Spalletti

Napoli will be entertaining rivals Juventus in Serie A on Saturday and head coach Luciano Spalletti has insisted his side are in ideal condition to face Massimiliano Allegri’s men at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Partenopei have started the 2021/2022 season on a high after wins against Genoa and Benevento in their opening two Serie A games.

Juventus on the other hand are yet to win a game as they drew and lost against Udinese and Empoli respectively.

Spalletti says it has always been his dream to be involved in matches of this importance and rivalry.

“Those like me who have dreamed of football since childhood have dreamed of these great matches, the taste of rivalry, the taste of the important challenge,” the former AS Roma boss said at a press conference on Friday.

“It’s what even the players, being Napoli players, want to do, go out and play. We are in the optimal situation, the one we have always dreamed of.”

The Old Lady could go eight points behind Napoli after just three games if they lose but Spalletti does not want to look at the league table as he thinks it is too early.

“It’s a game I don’t like to play because it puts me at a psychological disadvantage,” the Italian tactician added.

“Defeats create the conditions for growth, while victories spoil a little. We need to remain balanced, have motivation without being presumptuous.”
