The Portuguese coach says he is happy after being inducted into the League Manager's Association's 1000 club.
Mourinho becomes only the 33rd manager in the modern era of European football to have reached the landmark of 1000 competitive matches.
Having been coach at the highest level for two decades, Mourinho achieved this feat in four different leagues.
He started his coaching career in Portugal with Benfica, but rose to prominence as a manager during his time with FC Porto.
Mourinho later moved to Chelsea and enhanced his reputation as of one the best coaches of his generation. He also had successful stints at Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
"I am obviously very pleased to be reaching the milestone of 1000 matches managed this weekend, but at the same time it is always in my nature to be looking forward to the next match instead of dwelling on those precious matches that I have experienced so far in my career," said Mourinho after being inducted.
"To be inducted into the League Managers Association 1000 Club is an achievement that I am proud of and I thank the LMA for remembering this milestone and the many matches my teams have won during this time."
