The Swede joined LA Galaxy from Manchester United in March 2018 and will be out of contract with the MLS outfit in December.
Ibrahimovic has scored 52 goals in 57 games since joining LA Galaxy and he has found the back of the net 30 times in this MLS season.
Ibrahimovic spent a large part of his illustrious career in Italy playing for Juventus, Inter Milan, and had a short stint in Spain before coming back to AC Milan. He has also played in The Netherlands, France and England.
The former Barcelona man recently hinted of a possible return to Italy when he told an Italian based newspaper that he feels like Italy is his "second home" and would look forward to a return to Serie A.
According to De Laurentiis, signing the prolific striker is "more than just a suggestion" and he would be happy to see him in Naples.
'(Ibrahimovic) is a friend, I met him in Los Angeles not as a footballer but as a normal person because we were in the same hotel,' De Laurentiis told Sky Sports.
'I invited him over for dinner with his wife and kids and we had an amazing time. It would be my wish to see him in Napoli colours, it's more than a suggestion and it depends on him. It's been talked about for a few months now.'
The 38-year-old may play his last game for LA Galaxy this weekend when his side face a tough visit to Minnesota United in the MLS play-offs.
