Solskjaer reveals that the club is working to get the deal completed as soon as possible.
Manchester United confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Serie A giants Juventus to re-sign Ronaldo, twelve years after he left Old Trafford.
In an interview after the Red Devils’ victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium on Sunday, Solskjaer was asked about Ronaldo’s impending arrival at Old Trafford.
The Norwegian coach, who labeled Ronaldo as a special player, says the Portugal superstar could be in contention to make his second debut against Newcastle United after the international break.
"I hope he will. We're working to get that done. He's a special boy, or man now, he was a boy when I played with him. Of course we want to get that over the line,” Solskjaer said.
"Of course the players are excited, some have played with him in their national team. You see the fans - they're excited. That's what he does, he's a special player."
Ronaldo spent six years at Manchester United between 2003 and 2009 before he moved to Real Madrid for the-then record fee of £80 million.
He became an important member in Sir Alex Ferguson’s team as he helped Manchester United three Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy among others.
He scored 118 goals for Manchester United in in 292 games in all competitions.
