Calhanoglu was a delight to watch in his first game in the shirt of Inter Milan, scoring a debut goal.
The Turkish International joined Nerazzurri from city rivals AC Milan on a free transfer after talks for contract renewal stalled.
However it was also Simone Inzaghi's first game in charge at Inter after replacing Antonio Conte, who led the side to a Serie A truimph for the first time in many years.
With Inter recording a win for the season opener and Calhanoglu impressing, Italian coach Simone Inzaghi was full of praise for the former Bayer Leverkusen prodigy.
“Hakan Calhanoglu is a great player, he combines quality and quantity, he raced a lot, but it would be reductive to talk only about him.
“Calhanoglu is a player that Marotta and Ausilio wanted, every time I played against him he caused me problems. We have the great fortune to sign him, he has inserted himself well.
“In my opinion, he still has margins to improve and grow because he is young and still doesn’t know how good he is.”
Calhanoglu was an instrumental assest for AC Milan last season, helping the side secured a Champions League football spot with second position.
Having been out of contract with AC Milan, Calhanoglu was a target for most clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Juventus but opted to don the blue and black shirt.
Inter's next Serie A game will be against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on August 27.
