Rodgers Uninterested About Title Talks After Foxes Win Against Wolves

Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers has insisted his side should just enjoy their 2021/2022 season following a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the opening game of the Premier League on Saturday.

The Foxes outdistanced Wolves in a packed King Power Stadium thanks to a lone goal from striker Jamie Vardy.

Leicester City have been up there fighting for a top place spot in the Premier League for the past two seasons but failed to finish in the top four during the final week.

Rodgers’ men had to settle for a fifth place finish in the back-to-back seasons despite spending most of the months in the top four.

The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss was asked if his side could improve and fight for the league title this time around.

"We are just doing our very best. When you look at the other clubs and what they're spending, we're nowhere near that level,” Rodgers replied after the game.

“We're just going to enjoy this season again. I'm going to enjoy seeing the team develop. If we can progress again this year, I'll be happy and we'll see where it takes us.”

The 48-year-old also reflected on his side’s narrow win over Wolves by insisting his men played well.

Rodgers added: "We've had a really good pre-season and today we wanted to deliver and get the three points.

"I thought we played really well the first half. Some of our football was outstanding and we didn't have too many problems. In the second half we had to defend a little bit more, but the players really showed their spirit and their mentality when they had to.

"We could've made the match more comfortable with some chances to close it out but we kept a clean sheet and playing to that level was so pleasing."
