The Blues ran riot against their London rivals but it was Chalobah who stole the headlines with yet another mesmeric display.
Just three days after making his official debut for his boyhood club in the UEFA Super Cup where the English side beat Villarreal to the trophy, Chalobah put up another near-perfect performance against the Eagles and capped it with a goal.
The hosts were leading two nil thanks to first half goals from Marcos Alonso and Christian Pulisic and the game was surely put to bed in the second half when the 22-year-old scored a thronker on 58 minutes.
Tuchel was speaking to the media after the game and the German manager praised the former Lorient loanee for his display.
"Fantastic. He gets all the praise and it's well deserved. Two excellent matches. He played against Arsenal and Tottenham in friendlies, then 120 minutes on Wednesday, then 90 minutes against Palace and scores. It's fantastic these things happen in sports. A perfect day for him,” the former Paris Saint-Germain boss said.
Tuchel added: "Very enjoyable and very deserved. He was very solid against Tottenham and Arsenal [in pre-season].
"He took his chance to show his quality. This is not a gift, it was well deserved. He had a strong performance against Villarreal and he’s robust enough to play another 90 minutes."
