Redknapp says he did not expect Kane to go AWOL in a bid to secure his dream move away from Spurs.
The 28-year-old was supposed to report on Monday after his extended holidays due to his involvement with the England national team in Euro 2020.
Kane was scheduled to undergo a coronavirus text on Monday before partaking in training on Tuesday but the Englishman is yet to show up.
Sources have suggested that Kane’s absence is a theatrical ploy to force a move away from the North London-based club.
Manchester City is said to be his next preferred destination and the Citizens have already seen their first bid for Kane turned down by Spurs in June.
“You wouldn’t have expected that,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“You’d have just thought he’d have turned up and had a meeting with Daniel [Levy] again. I’m sure his advisers are meeting with Daniel [Levy] anyway and got it sorted out.
“I was a bit surprised. I’m sure he’ll come into training today [Tuesday] when the training starts, but not the best way to go about it really.
“He’s so loved at Tottenham, it’d be a shame if that got spoilt. It shouldn’t do because of what he’s done and how much he loves the club.”
