Arsenal Must Start New Season Well, Says Martinelli

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has urged his team-mates to start the 2021/2022 season on a high.

The Gunners have endured a back-to-back underwhelming seasons in the Premier League where they finished eighth on both occasions.

Many have tipped the North Londoners to finish out of the top four in the upcoming season but the Brazilian has backed his side to prove their doubters wrong.

Martinelli has labeled Arsenal as one of the best clubs in the world despite their recent poor form.

“We had one of the best campaigns in the league after Christmas.

“It’s a new team, with a new coach too, but already with experience and that, I consider it one of the best in the world already.

“We had good games at the end of the season, the players are confident, so we have to try to go down this same path, so we need to start the season well.”

The 20-year-old was a revelation when he joined Arsenal from Ituano in the summer of 2019. He scored ten goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal in the 2019/2020 season.

Martinelli could not replicate similar form last season as he was out injured for vast majority of the campaign and eventually went down the perking order.

“I lost about five months because of the injury, but I think in the end we did well,” he added.
