Carragher says Liverpool can only usurp champions Manchester City for the title if they acquire the services of a proven goalscorer.
Jurgen Klopp steered the Reds to their first league title in the 2019/2020 season when they comfortably hoisted the Premier League.
The Merseyside-based side failed to defend their crown as English champions and had to settle for a third place finish on the Premier League table.
Klopp and his charges will be looking to atone for the sins in the 2021/2022 season and other Premier League rivals are also bolstering their squad.
Carragher, who is considered as a legend at Anfield, has urged the club to get an attacker, who is capable of scoring goals.
“I think in terms of numbers it’s not a problem, I think it is in terms of quality,” 43-year-old told PA News Agency [via Independent].
“If we didn’t bring in another addition it may be difficult to knock Man City off the top, and let’s not forget Chelsea, the European champions, and Manchester United, who have had a great window with [Raphael] Varane and [Jadon] Sancho.
“I’d like to see someone who could get goals, whether that’s from midfield or part of the front three.”
