Barcelona Knock Back Roma Bid For Lenglet

Barcelona have rejected a €15 million bid from Jose Mourinho's AS Roma for defender Clement Lenglet according to Football Italia.

Barcelona are only ready to sanction the move if their request for player-plus-cash swap deal for midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini is accepted, but the Italian club have denied the proposal as their only interest is signing the centre-back.

Though Barcelona are expected to offlaod more players to reduce their wage bill before they can announce the new deal for out of contract club captain Lionel Messi but are not eager to sell Lenglet  yet holding out for a fee of €25 million.

Jose Mourinho's Roma will now look elsewhere for a perfect centre-back before the start of the new season.

Frechman Lenglet has become a hotcake in the transfer market this summer with several clubs including Premier League sides chasing for his signature.

Accoring Sport, Lenglet however wants to feature in the Premier League if he's to exit Barcelona than going to Italy.

Failure to strike a deal for up for sale players at Barcelona will mean the club cannot retain Messi whose contract just ended due to their inability to reduce wages.

Lenglet's future at Barcelona is still in the dark after a poor display last term, but the former Sevilla man has no intention of departing a side he joined in 2018.

“I can’t see myself leaving,” he told Eurosport in June. “I signed a new contract last season. I will be at Barça next season.”

Lenglet was brought to Barcelona for a reported fee of €35 million in 2018 from Sevilla.

The left-footed centre-back made thirty-three appearances with 1 goal for Barcelona in the Spanish LaLiga last time out.
