Dawson Says Man City Could Be Untouchable Next Season

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has warned other Premier League title contenders that Manchester City could be untouchable next season if they add Harry Kane to their ranks.

The Citizens had a wonderful season last campaign as they comfortably clinched the Premier League title despite having a slow start to the season.

After winning the league by an enormous 12-point margin, Pep Guardiola’s men retained the Carabao Cup and also made it to the final of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Manchester City embarked on a remarkable 21-game winning streak as well as an incredible 28-match unbeaten run.

They achieved all this without playing a recognized striker for the majority of last season.

Manchester City are said to be interested in signing Kane to replace Sergio Aguero and Dawson believes it will be difficult for other Premier League rivals if the deal goes through.

He told talkSPORT: “If Man City sign Harry Kane, you’ll think, ‘how can any team get near them?”

“He’s a goalscorer and I love him and I hope he stays, but with those kind of figures, it looks like he might leave.”

“I said it would be a £150m-plus and it looks like it’s going to be that. It could only be one or two clubs who could afford him.

“Manchester City seem like they’re going to be the team [to sign Kane]. They have a bottomless pit [of funds] and if they want a player they tend to get them because money talks.”
