The 20-year-old captained Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals last season, earning him a big-money move to Juventus after a prolonged bidding war among Europe’s elite clubs.
De Ligt was linked with the likes of Manchester United, PSG and Barcelona but eventually joined Juventus for a fee of €75m.
The Dutchman has endured an average start to the season at Turin and conceded a penalty against Inter Milan before the international break, but despite the abysmal start, he believes he will improve with time.
“I am not yet at my best, I know,” De Ligt told Fox Sports after Netherlands’ 2-1 away win at Belarus in the EURO 2020 qualifiers over the weekend.
“The more I play the more I’ll get there. What I can do is continue to work hard, doing my best and learning from my teammates.
"At Ajax I felt a sense of invincibility, now I feel less, but it is natural. I have a little less confidence than last year.
“I'm in a new club, with a new way of playing and new companions. For me it's all-new, now it's less familiar than Ajax but I'm getting better and better.”
A serious knee injury suffered by captain Giorgio Chiellini early in the season has opened up a chance for De Ligt and he has appeared in five Serie A games.
