Vorm left Tottenham at the end of last season following the expiration of the four-year contract he signed when he joined from Swansea City in the summer of 2014.
The 35-year-old failed to find a club after leaving Tottenham in the summer but has now returned for a second spell on an emergency basis.
The veteran Dutchman made 47 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s men in his first spell.
Tottenham will be without Hugo Lloris for the rest of the year after their skipper suffered an elbow injury in a 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion before the international break.
A club statement read: "As a free agent, Michel has been able to re-sign outside of the two designated annual transfer windows and will provide additional goalkeeping cover following the elbow injury sustained by Hugo in the match at Brighton earlier this month."
"I’m happy to be back," Vorm Tottenham’s website.
"It’s easy really, nothing’s really changed, I know most of the players and the staff. For me it’s coming home.
"During the week I got the phone call and I was open to coming back and helping us out."
Vorm, who has won 15 caps for the Netherlands, will battle it out with Paulo Gazzaniga for the right to start in goal.
