Mbappe’s future in the French capital is up in the air following reports that he is unwilling to extend his current deal which expires at the end of next season.
The France international has been linked with a lot of big European clubs but Real Madrid is said to be his potential destination this summer.
In his early days as a PSG employee, Ramos was asked about Mbappe’s future and a potential transfer to Real Madrid, a club Ramos has featured for between 2005 and 2021.
“Of course. Madrid is one of the best clubs in the world. On a historical level, the best. For me, great players have to go through there. But now I want him on my team,” the Spaniard said when asked by Diario AS.
“I want to win and for that I want the best to be by my side. Advice on a personal level I could never give. I could tell him something from experience, but I would do it in private. As a PSG player, I would like him to stay.
“I like to play with the best and Mbappe is one of them. The offer was accepted but it had a use-by date.
“They informed us a week ago that the offer had run-out. I don’t know why it had an expiry date. Maybe I interpreted it wrongly or I didn’t understand it but no one told me.”
Mbappe has been with the Parisians since the summer of 2017 when he joined them from rivals AS Monaco.
He has since established himself as one of the best forwards in world football having played over 170 games in all competitions for PSG, scoring 132 goals and providing 61 assists.
