Stones believes his team-mate has done enough in Euro 2020 to be named the best player of the tournament.
Despite the unending criticisms surrounding Sterling, he has arguably been England’s best player so far in the competition.
The Manchester City forward got England going in the tournament when he scored their first goal which eventually beat Croatia. And he was at the Three Lions' mercy in their final Group D game against Czech Republic.
Sterling followed it up with another goal in Gareth Southgate’s side’s 2-0 victory over Germany in the Round of 16 stage.
The former Liverpool man was once again the catalyst when England made history on Wednesday by reaching their first ever Euro final.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s James Savundra about Sterling’s impact for England, Stones said: “I’m a big fan of Raheem. I’d love to see him get Player of the Tournament.
“What he’s done for us, the unselfish part of his game kind of goes unspoken about. As players, we see it.
“He’s been a great threat going forward with how direct he’s been in the games. “It’s been great playing with him and I’m sure he’ll be giving everything on Sunday. “Hopefully he can get another goal and we’ll see where it takes us.”
