Azpilicueta believes his Chelsea team-mate Jorginho is the key man in Roberto Mancini’s setup and La Roja has to stop him in order to reach the competition’s showpiece.
Italy are flying in the ongoing Euros, having recorded big wins against Austria and Belgium in the knockout phase following a hundred percent record in the group stage.
Jorginho has been the Azzurri’s conductor as he dictates the pace of the game by integrating defense and attack.
He attempted 71 passes in Italy’s 2-1 victory over the Red Devils and misplaced only one pass; 99 percent passing rate.
Azpilicueta, who has been lining up with Italian at Stamford Bridge since he joined from Napoli in the summer of 2018, has told Luis Enrique’s men to limit the 29-year-old.
“We have a Whatsapp group with our Chelsea teammates, but it will be nice to meet him again on the pitch,” Azpilicueta told Sky Sports Italia.
“That’s why football is great, now we are going to give the best for our national teams. Jorginho has proved to be a crucial player for Italy.
“He has important qualities, he likes to keep the ball in his feet and control the game. If we limit his involvement, we’ll have more chances to qualify for the Final.”
