Busquets Back In Spain Squad After Testing Negative For Coronavirus

Sergio Busquets has rejoined the Spain squad after returning a negative test for coronavirus.

Busquets tested positive for the virus a week before the start of EURO 2020 and went into a period of self-isolation.

As a result, the 32-year-old was missing in action in Spain’s opening game against Sweden which ended goalless on Monday.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation(RFEF) have now confirmed that the Barcelona midfielder has posted a clean bill of health and will be available for manager Luis Enrique to use in Spain’s second game against Poland on Saturday.

A statement on the Spanish national team website read: "The captain of the national team, Sergio Busquets, will join the Spain camp this Friday and will travel with the team to Seville once Covid-19 has been overcome.

"The Catalan has given a negative result in the result of the last PCR test and, once all the health protocols have been fulfilled, he will be able to return with the national team in the next few hours.

"Sergio Busquets will meet his team-mates again hours before the trip to Seville on the eve of Spain's second match at Euro 2020, which will be played against Poland."

Busquets made his debut for Spain in 2009, winning 123 caps to date and was part of the sides that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and EURO 2012.
