Messi is in the final month of his contract with Barcelona, with the club locked in negotiations to extend the deal.
The 33-year-old Argentina international unsuccessfully tried to negotiate a move away from the Camp Nou last summer but Barcelona refused to sanction his release.
It is anticipated that Messi will sign a two-year extension with Ronald Koeman’s men in the coming days
Inter Miami have begun bringing some of the world’s best talent to the club including former Real Madrid and Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain and France world cup winner Blaise Matuidi.
Miami owner Jorge Mas and co-owner David Beckham have not hidden their intentions of securing the signature of the six-time Ballon d’or winner in the past, and they are hopeful Messi will join them sometime in the future.
“David and I have been working really hard, we have aspirations of bringing the best players here and Leo Messi is a generational player, arguably the best player of all time,” Mas told the Miami Herald.
“I am optimistic Messi will play in an Inter Miami shirt because I think it will complete the legacy of the greatest player in our generation and will meet with the ambitions of the owners of Inter Miami to build a world-class team.”
