Guardiola - I Will Not Sell Foden for Even €500m

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insists Phil Foden will not be sold, not even for a world record fee of €500 million.

The 19-year-old, who graduated from Manchester City’s academy signed a contract worth £30,000-a-week despite lack of first team chances.

Guardiola stunned everybody back in July by rating Foden as the “most talented player” he’s ever seen, even better than his old Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

In a new book dubbed 'Pep's City: The Making of a Super team' the Spaniard tipped Foden to replace David Silva when he leaves at the end of the season.

“We didn’t give Foden a new contract by accident”- the Former Bayern Munich manager said.

He added, “He is the only player that can’t be sold under any circumstances — the only one. Not even for 500m euros”

"Phil’s going nowhere, He’s grown up with us. He's one of us and he's going to be brilliant - one of the Premier League's best, — Phil is City. We won’t be signing anyone else for that position.

“When David Silva leaves, we know exactly who our new magician will be.”

“It’s better to take things slowly, “One thing is clear, Foden has a place in City’s first team.

“I’d be interested to see if a different manager would have given him his chance to develop, or loaned him out.

“I don’t like leaving him out of certain games but must think of the whole squad. Phil understands that.”

Phil Foden won the U-17 World Cup Golden Ball in 2017 when England were crowned champions.
