Pogba believes his compatriot deserves to win the golden ball due to his exploits in the just ended Champions League season with Chelsea.
The 30-year-old has been added to the 2021 Ballon d’Or conversation which has always involved Ronaldo and Messi, the players who have won five and six of the said individual trophy respectively.
Kante dropped man-of-the-match performances in Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final ties against Real Madrid and was also the main man when Thomas Tuchel’s side stunned Manchester City in the competition’s final in Porto.
Pogba and Kante are currently preparing for the upcoming Euro 2020 with the France national team, and the former Juventus man has explained why he thinks his countryman deserves to win the award.
“What I would like to say to the whole world is that the “NG” we have seen in recent months has always been the same,’ Pogba told Eurosport France’s FC Stream Team podcast.
“We talk a lot about his performances but he has always been as good as ever.
“There was no Cristiano and Messi in the semi-final, so it’s good to see the performances of the midfielders or even the defenders.
“I said a long time ago that it would be appropriate, if Chelsea won, for him to win the Ballon d’Or. It would be deserved, too.”
