Inter Milan Name Simone Inzaghi As New Manager

Inter Milan have appointed Simone Inzaghi as the club’s new manager on a two-year contract.

Inter were in the market for a new man in the dugouts after Antonio Conte quit his role at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Conte led Inter to a first league title in eleven years but stepped down after he was told by the club’s bosses that key players will have to be sold this summer to balance the books due to the financial implications of the Coronavirus pandemic; an idea he objected to.

Inzaghi arrives at the San Siro after managing Lazio for the past five seasons. The 45-year-old led the Stadio Olympico outfit to one Coppa Italia trophy and two Italian Super Cups during his time in charge.

He led Lazio to the Champions League group stage for the first time in 13 years by finishing fourth in the 2019/2020 season.

Inter have said in a statement on the club's official website:"FC Internazionale Milano would like to welcome Simone Inzaghi to the club, as our new first-team coach: the Italian manager has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri."

Simone’s appointment at Inter continues a raft of managerial changes among some of Italy’s most prominent clubs for next season.

The likes of Juventus, Napoli, AS Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio will all begin the 2021/2022 season with new managers in the dugout.
