The 29-year-old says he is ‘thankful for everything and will forever be a fan of Newcastle United’.
Atsu joined the Magpies in the summer of 2016 from Chelsea on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy clause in the contract.
His move was made permanent after he impressed the club in the 2016/2017 season where he helped Newcastle secure promotion back to the Premier League from the second tier of English football.
The former FC Porto man played 29 games in all competitions following Newcastle’s return to the Premier League in the 2017/2018 season.
Atsu has played over 100 matches for Newcastle United since his debut and will be bringing an end to his adventure after seeing out his contract.
"When I arrived in Newcastle almost five years ago, I was made to feel welcomed from the start, by everyone at the club and especially by the fans. I grew to love the city and my young family feel at home here," Atsu posted on social media on Tuesday.
"Sadly, the time has come for me to leave the club, so I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who is part of the Newcastle United family.
"Thank you to the Toon Army fans, a lot of whom I have met around the city.
"I will never forget my time in the North East and for sure I'll follow the results every week. Thank you my Geordie staff, players and fans. It's been a pleasure.
