The former Arsenal midfielder joined the Cherries on a short-term contract in January after he was let go by West Ham United earlier in the season.
Wilshere made 17 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals but that was not enough to secure a permanent stay at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth lost out to Brentford in the play-off semi-finals, denying them an immediate return to the top flight following their relegation last season.
‘A class act on and off the pitch,' Bournemouth said in their farewell message to the 29-year-old, who also enjoyed a loan spell with the club in the 2016/2017 season from Arsenal.
'We'd like to thank Jack Wilshere for his efforts since returning to the club and wish him all the best moving forward.'
'Thank you to everyone at Bournemouth for the last five months,' Wilshere said in an earlier message to the Bournemouth fans.
'My teammates, all the staff and especially the fans. You were amazing last time and continued to support me this time.
'Being honest, I don't know if this is the end. The coming weeks will tell. Unfortunately, we didn't reach our goal of promotion but there is plenty of positives and experience to take into next year to get this club back where it belongs!'
Wilshere has won 34 caps for the England national team but it has been more than four years since his last international appearance.
