Guardiola has called on City fans to pay their last respect to the Argentina international when they come up against Everton in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Manchester City decided not to extend the stay of the 32-year-old and he will be leaving for free at the end of the season.
Aguero joined the Citizens from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, and he quickly became fans’ favourite.
It took him only a season to engrave his name as a legend in the blue part of Manchester after helping them to end their 44-year wait to be crowned the champions of England.
Aguero has made 388 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City, scoring 258 goals; the highest by a City player in history.
Guardiola was speaking to the media ahead of City’s game against Everton, and the Spaniard took time to eulogize one of the club’s loyal employees.
“[Aguero] is an incredibly nice and funny person, humble being the legend he is. Being from Argentina and in this country where it’s so difficult to score goals he’s done it for many years,” Guardiola said.
“He was incredibly loved by the backroom staff. Sunday’s the last game, I’m sure the fans will give him a tribute to what he has done so far; titles, numbers, performances, incredible.
“He is like a lion in the jungle, he kills the opponent. The last goal versus Palace defined him. He controlled two or three steps then wow. So much speed and then the quality to make the goal, he has this quality. He could play until 40 and score goals.”
