Portugal Announce 26-Man Squad For Euro 2020

Portugal national team head coach Fernando Santos has announced his 26-man squad for the upcoming European tournament.

The Selecao will be hoping to defend their crown as European champions, having been drawn in a purported group of death which constitute teams like Germany, France and Hungary.

Santos’ men will start their tournament with a game against Hungary on June 15, before locking horns with Joachim Low’s side and France on June 19 and June 23 respectively.

Portugal are filled with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Felix, Pepe and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

Nine of the 26 players called up ply their trade in the Premier League, six come from Primeira Liga, four from La Liga, four from the French Ligue 1, two play in the Bundesliga and one from the Serie A.

Goalkeepers: Anthony Lopes (Lyon), Rui Patricio (Wolves), Rui Silva (Granada).

Defenders: Joao Cancelo (Man City), Nelson Semedo (Wolves), Jose Fonte (Lille), Pepe (Porto), Ruben Dias (Man City), Nuno Mendes (Sporting), Raphael Guerreiro (Dortmund).

Midfielders: Danilo Pereira (PSG), Joao Palhinha (Sporting), Ruben Neves (Wolves), Bruno Fernandes (Man United FC), Joao Moutinho (Wolves), Renato Sanches (Lille), Sergio Oliveira (Porto), William Carvalho (Real Betis).

Forwards: Pedro Goncalves (Sporting), Andre Silva (Frankfurt), Bernardo Silva (Man City), Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), Diogo Jota (Liverpool), Goncalo Guedes (Valencia), Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid), Rafa Silva (Benfica).
