Tuchel Happy With Chelsea’s ‘Top Performance’ Against Foxes

Chelsea had their revenge against Leicester City in the Premier League on Tuesday and head coach Thomas Tuchel has hailed his men’s performance after the 2-1 victory.

Tuchel lauded ‘a fantastic performance’ from the Blues but insists the battle for top four is not over yet.

Chelsea put their back-to-back defeats in the hands of Arsenal and Leicester City in the FA Cup final behind them to secure a vital three points for their top four hopes.

Playing in front of their fans for the first time this year, Chelsea started on the front foot, but could not put the ball at the back of the net despite mustering over eleven shots in the first half.

The hosts found their breakthrough two minutes into the second half after defender Antonio Rudiger glided home from a Chelsea corner which took a ricochet before hitting the thigh of the German.

Midfielder Jorginho got Chelsea’s second from the penalty spot midway through the second half after Wesley fofana impeded Timo Werner around the area.

Brendan Rodgers’ men halved their deficit after Wilfred Ndidi stole the ball from Mateo Kovacic before teeing up his Nigeria team-mate Kelechi Iheanacho who curled it past Edouard Mendy on 76 minutes.

Speaking to the media after the game, Tuchel was happy his side secured the maximum points.

"It was a fantastic performance and well deserved performance. No time for celebration, the job is not done yet, two more games to go. Very happy to play in front of supporters, it was a huge difference,” Tuchel said.

"On Sunday we had the post-match talk and you go on from there. it is what we demanded, played with high intensity and aggression and the team did very good.

"It is a bit frustrating but we speak about doing it again, go into the box, stay patient and play with a cool head. Keep the fire up and we played a high intensity game.

"We defended so strong, did not give many chances but escaped with a deserved win. It is a different game with fans."
