Hudson believes a goal scoring midfielder in the mold of Frank Lampard could help Chelsea to improve.
Tuchel has had a major impact on Chelsea since he was drafted in to replace Lampard in January, having built his team to be solid at defending, but the Blues are finding it difficult in the attacking phase of the game as they barely take their chances against opponents.
The likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, who were brought in last summer to bolster Chelsea’s attack but are not putting up good numbers in front of goal.
The 69-year-old has insisted that Chelsea could solve their goal scoring problems if they sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur and a midfielder that can score goals.
“The one thing for certain is Werner is not up to scratch,” Hudson told Caught Offside.
“I’ve said for some time that a Harry Kane is needed. He would have buried that first-half chance against Arsenal, and would’ve made a difference had he played in a blue shirt at Wembley.”
“This is lacking in this present Chelsea team. And Frank Lampard scoring 25 goals a season from midfield would be a dream alongside Kante today.
“If only. We’ve allowed standards to drop.”
Hudson played 175 games in all competitions across two spells for the West Londoners during his playing career.
