Ancelotti Fumes As Everton Lose At Home Again

Everton head coach Carlo Ancelotti could not hide his frustration following his side’s 1-0 defeat to bottom side Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Toffees have once again failed to win at the Goodison Park and Ancelotti hopes the responsibility of their latest defeat will be shared among the players.

Everton went down to an early go from the Blades courtesy of a 17-year-old Daniel Jebbison, who was making his first start for Sheffield United.

Ancelotti’s men failed to break the defense of the visitors despite mustering twelve shots throughout the game.

Everton have not won at home since a 1-0 victory over Southampton on March 1; a run of six winless games in all competitions, and Ancelotti was not shy mentioning it after the game.

“We played so bad. The only result that could be possible is a defeat,” the former Chelsea and Napoli manager told BBC Sport.

“As we usually did at home most of the time, we lost. I have to take responsbilty for this but I hope the players do too.

"We have two games to the end. We lost a great opportunity to have the chance to fight for Europe. We have to do our best to the end. The next one we will have fans and maybe they can help us wake up.

"It's difficult to say [why Everton are better away]. When we tried to put quality and build from the back we have more difficulties. We are more comfortable when we play direct but that is not the best style of play.

"For next season we are going to change. We have to analyse the season. Certain aspects are really good - away we did fantastic results, at home really bad. Double face.

"To be ready for Europe you have to be in Europe. We have to try to win the two games and see if we are in Europe or not.

“If we are, we will build a squad to be in Europe. If we’re not we’ll build a squad to be better in the Premier League."
