Tammy Abraham Undecided About His International Future

After another spectacular performance against Lille on Wednesday night, the in-form Chelsea academy graduate, Tammy Abraham, says he “has not decided” on his international future.

He marked his 22nd birthday with a 22nd minute opener at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, his first goal in the Champions League and eighth of the season.

Abraham spent the 2018-2019 season on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship scoring 25 goals and helping the Villans back to the top flight after a three-year absence.

The 22-year-old is eligible to play for Nigeria despite playing for England in non-competitve games against Brazil and Germany in 2017, while he has also featured at youth level for England.

Abraham is tipped to play for England after bagging seven goals in seven Premier League matches including a hat-trick at Wolves so far for Chelsea this season.

"It is always a privilege to be wanted by both nations," Abraham told the BBC after Chelsea's win against Lille on Wednesday.

"I haven't made a decision yet. I am focusing on the club, I love both nations and for me I am clearly doing something right for Chelsea. My time will come."

"I am from an area where I have grown up with different culture backgrounds. I am fully aware Nigeria is a massive country," Abraham added.

Gareth Southgate is set to name his Squad for the upcoming EURO 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic on Thursday and Abraham is expected to be in the squad.
