Mason Greenwood Seals Comeback Win For Manchester United Over Spurs

Manchester United produced another stunning second-half comeback to condemn rivals Tottenham Hotspur to a 3-1 defeat in the Premier League on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur were on course for a memorable double over the Red Devils, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men put up a majestic performance to turn the game on its head.

After a cagey start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the game sparked to life when Edinson Cavani thought he had broken the deadlock on 35 minutes, but the goal was ruled out by VAR after Scott McTominay appeared to have hit Heung-Min Son in the face during the build up.

Son grabbed the opener moments later after a blistering counterattack from the hosts. Harry Kane played an outstanding pass to Lucas Moura who squared for the South Korean before he fired home from close range.

Manchester United pulled parity twelve minutes after the break when goalkeeper Hugo Lloris parried away Cavani’s attempt, but Fred was there to pounce on the rebound.

United could have taken the lead moments later but both Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba failed to hit the back of the net.

The visitors’ dominance in the second half was rewarded when Cavani rose highest to meet substitute Mason Greenwood’s cross with a superb diving header to put the ball in the bottom right corner well out of Lloris' reach.

Spurs nearly got their equalizer on 82 minutes when Cavani nearly headed into his own net while trying to make a clearance.

Greenwood sealed United’s victory during the dying embers of the game after lashing the ball past Hugo Lloris following a Paul Pogba defence-splitting pass.

The victory means Manchester United are now eleven points behind leaders Manchester City, who have played one more game.

And Jose Mourinho’s men drop to seventh having missed the chance to go fifth on the Premier League table.
