The Red Devils once again came back from behind to secure another crucial win in their bid to finish high on the Premier League table.
Manchester academy graduate Danny Welbeck put Brighton ahead just 13 minutes into the game, and the hosts could not break Graham Potter’s men’s defence as the visitors took their lead into halftime.
The Red Devils got their equalizer midway through the second half when Bruno Fernandes drove towards the box and laid it off for Marcus Rashford, who slotted it in coolly.
Mason Greenwood won the game for Manchester United in the dying embers after he pounced on a rebound to head the ball past Lewis Dunk and Robert Sanchez on the goal line.
"I thought we started well but when they scored, after that we couldn't find our rhythm again and we needed half-time to compose ourselves and go again. Second half we played some good stuff. More runs in behind, more movement, better movement,” Solskjaer said.
"Sometimes after international breaks it takes time - and then maybe the fireworks have to be lit at half-time.
"Mason Greenwood needs to add those goals to his tally because we know how wonderful a talent he is, and when he can add those goals we know he'll be a good.
"They defended very well. Five at the back is always hard to break down but we managed it in the end. It's great to see Danny Welbeck back playing at his best. He could have had a fantastic career here at Manchester United. I'm happy it's worked out for him."
