Arsenal Manager Arteta Pays Tribute To Aguero

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has paid tribute to striker Sergio Aguero after it was officially gazetted that the Argentina international will be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.

Aguero will be bringing his ten-year stay at the Etihad Stadium to an end in the summer, and Arteta who worked with the former Atletico Madrid man during his days as the Citizens’ assistant head coach, has lauded Aguero’s impact in Manchester.

"Anyone who has been close to Sergio would say the same thing. He's been one of the main faces that has lifted that project,” Arteta said in his press conference ahead of Arsenal’s home game against Liverpool in the Premier League.

"You need some leadership, you need some quality players to create those moments, to start to build that project. It's not only the way he plays, it is his charisma, his personality - he is loved by everybody at that club."

"It is sad to see someone leaving like him but I think what he has done there he will be in the history.

"Sergio has a unique quality to see spaces where nobody else can see and score goals in a really easy way so that I am sure that he will find the right next project," Arteta added.

Aguero has been linked with a lot of teams in Europe, including Manchester City’s Premier League rivals.

Arteta was asked if the Gunners will try to lure the Argentine to the Emirates Stadium, but the Spanish coach, who had smiles on his face, was reticent and said: 'We'll see what happens!'
