Batshuayi Admits Frustration With Bit-Part Role At Crystal Palace

Michy Batshuayi has admitted he is frustrated with bench life at Crystal Palace despite his impressive goalscoring record for the Belgium national team.

Batshuayi scored his 22nd goal for Belgium in just 33 appearances by opening the scoring in Tuesday’s 8-0 win over Belarus in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 27-year-old is on a season-long loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea but he has made just 18 appearances in all competitions for Roy Hodgson’s men and only nine of them have been starts, with just a solitary goal to show for his efforts.

"I get a breath of renewed energy when I come into the national team, because it's very hard for me at my club," the former Olympique Marseille striker told reporters.

"The club and the national team are different. The coach, the team members and the system are different from that at Palace.

"With the Red Devils, I feel a lot of trust from the coach; trust that I do not get there [at Palace].

"With [Belgium head coach Roberto] Martinez, we talk to each other a lot, even when I'm back at my club. I give 200 per cent not to disappoint him."

Batshuayi has also spent time on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Valencia during his stay at Chelsea.
