Bayern Chairman Quashes Haaland Transfer Rumour

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has cooled off rumours linking Erling Haaland to the Bundesliga champions.

Rummenigge has insisted that the Bavarian giants will not be pursuing a deal for Haaland as he thinks Robert Lewandowski is still the best player in the world.

The Norwegian international has been the most wanted marksman in Europe following another stellar season with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Haaland is currently considered as one of the best players in the globe following his meteoric rise to prominence after adventures in Molde FK and Red Bull Salzburg.

Almost every big team in Europe has been linked with the 20-year-old, which includes Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s men are not excluded either.

Reports in Germany have opined that, Bayern Munich will yet again snap up a budding talent from their rivals in the summer, but Rummenigge has distanced the club from entering any bidding war for the Norway superstar.

The legendary Bayern Munich and Germany forward told BILD: "I don't know where the rumours have come from. I can only say one thing: we have the world's best footballer in this position. Robert Lewandowski has a contract until 2023."

The former Molde FK and Red Bull Salzburg forward has scored 33 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions for the Black and Yellows this season.
