Icardi Drops Hint On His Future In PSG

Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi has dropped hint on his future at the Parc des Princes amid rumours linking him away from French Ligue 1.

After an acrimonious end to his Inter Milan career, Icardi joined PSG on loan before the beginning of the 2019/2020 season before making his deal permanent last summer.

Having established himself as one of the deadliest marksmen in Europe during his seven-year career in Serie A, with Sampdoria and Inter Milan, Icardi joined the Parisians with a huge reputation with a knack of scoring goals.

His career in France has fairly taken off having been left in the shadows of other stars like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Reports have suggested that the former La Masia boy is unhappy in Paris, and will be seeking to return to the Serie A after the end of this season.

The 28-year-old has refuted those claims, insisting he is planning to stay with PSG for a very longtime.

Icardi told the club’s official website: “When I arrived on loan, I did all I could to be able to make a difference and help the team with my goals.

“It was a good year. So I was very happy the club decided to take up the option on me and to propose to me to continue together for the next four years.

“For me, it was an honour and a source of pride, as I said on the first day I arrived in Paris. I feel good here, in a great team that wins trophies. That’s what a player looks for.”

“My attitude is the same as last season. Last year, we had a great season, and I hope that in the years to come we can keep improving and win trophies.”

Unlike the previous seasons, PSG would have to fight harder to retain their crown as the champions in France, as the Ligue 1 table remains been tighter than ever.

He added: “It’s clear that every game is and will be difficult. We know that we’re a strong team, a team with undisputed technical qualities, but motivation always has to be at 100% in order to win.

“It’s a great challenge to have strong teams who are battling with us for the title. We’re in it and we’ll battle with those teams until the last minute.

“We are focusing on ourselves, we know that winning matches will enable us to keep going like last year.

“The best preparation is to win each game. Mentally, physically, that’s what gives you the confidence to keep winning, winning and winning.”
