The Red Devils under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson were always up there fighting for the league title. They won 13 titles between 1993 and 2013, but have not hoisted one since the legendary Scott left after the 2012/2013 season.
Following the failures of David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer was drafted in to bring the Premier League back to the red part of Manchester.
But the Norwegian coach has failed to deliver despite the financial backing of the board.
After securing top four on the final day of the 2019/2020 Premier League season, Manchester United faithfuls hoped to fight for the league this term but it has not been the case as the Red Devils trail leaders Manchester City by 11 points.
Simon strongly believes that the Manchester-based club would have won the trophy if they had coaches like Simeone and Conte.
“Conte and Simeone.” Simon told talkSPORT when asked by which manager could have won the league with United.
“The answer is, it depends, because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t have the gravitas with Manchester United to get the players he really wants.”
“Man United should have a [new] centre-forward. They should spend £100million on buying a centre-forward.”
“Why haven’t they got one? Why did they sell [Romelu] Lukaku two years ago and not replace him?”
“That’s down to the level of leverage the manager has and the relationship he has.”
“That comes from the track record of winning things, which our boy doesn’t have except at Molde!”
