Elisabeth Klopp passed away last month at the age of 81 following a short illness but the former Borussia Dortmund boss could not be in attendance for the funeral as UK travelers are banned from entering Germany due to the new coronavirus variant spreading at an alarming rate in the country.
Elisabeth left behind three children, with 53-year-old Klopp as the youngest.
Despite his inability to attend the funeral, Klopp has vowed a fitting commemoration will be organised for his late mum when circumstances allow it.
"She meant everything to me," Klopp told German newspaper Schwarzwaelder Bote. "She was a proper mum, in every sense of the word.
"As a devout Christian, I know she's now in a better place.
"The fact that I can't be there at the funeral is because of these awful times. As soon as circumstances allow, we'll give her a wonderful, fitting commemoration."
Klopp’s Liverpool side will also not be able to travel to Germany for their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg with RB Leipzig next week, with the game due to take place at the Puskas Arena in Hungary instead.
