Rodgers Lauds Leicester’s Game Management in Victory Over Fulham

Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers could not hide his delight following his side’s 2-0 victory at Fulham on Wednesday.

The Foxes put their weekend setback against Leeds United behind them to beat Scott Parker’s men at Craven Cottage as they move to third on the Premier League table.

Rodgers’ men went ahead inside the opening 17 minutes thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s first Premier League goal of the season before defender James Justin got the visitors’ second on the cusp of halftime after the Englishman was teed up by James Maddison, and that was enough to beat the Cottagers.

Leicester City have now won 26 away points in the Premier League this season - their second highest such total in a Premier League campaign after their 2015-16 title success (39).

Speaking to the media after the game, Rodgers insisted it was important for his side to respond after their home defeat against Marcelo Bielsa’s men on Sunday.

The former Liverpool boss said: "Important for us to respond, that's how you define your team in terms of setbacks. We were on a great run until Leeds, Fulham have shown they are hard to beat.

“I thought we were excellent, two outstanding goals. Showed real moments of quality, second half we controlled the game without the ball and managed the game really well.

"I think the team is maturing - it's hard physically for players this season. We had one shot against us all night which shows the concentration.

“Second half we controlled it and stayed calm. I think Scott Parker has done a fantastic job here, you can see they're hard to beat with quality players but I thought we deserved the win.

"The culture we have created is an environment where we ask the players to be courageous. When you lose games there's a vulnerability but we have always taken that as something to reflect on.

“Once we fail in a game we learn from it and get out and win the next game. You can only do that with a group of honest players where the spirit is amazing and when we lose we lose together. We come out with energy and get a positive result and it's a huge testament to their honesty."
