The Foxes were beaten for the first time in 2021 thanks to a masterclass performance by the Peacocks which was inspired by striker Patrick Bamford.
Both teams scored in the opening 15 minutes to set up frantic start to the game. Firstly, Brendan Rodgers’ men took the lead through Harvey Barnes’ strong run and low finish inside 13 minutes but the visitors swiftly pulled parity thanks to Stuart Dallas, after a blistering counterattack.
Bamford found the top corner from an angle to give Leeds the lead on the 70th minute mark, before he selflessly teed up Jack Harrison for Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s third goal six minutes before the end of the game.
"Disappointing to lose, we've been on a nice little run. We're disappointed with the result, we made a great start, but then we gave away a cheap goal from our perspective,” Rodgers said after the game.
“We're disappointed with the goals we gave away. I thought we started the second half well, but we just couldn't quite find that final pass.
"It just feels like a loss, like they all do. The beauty of us as a group is that when we fail, when we lose, we try to learn from it and look to win our next game.”
“That's something I'm proud of, they gave everything, but we just weren't good enough to get the result."
Next up for Leeds is a home game against Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday.
